Debora is one of Australia’s most critically acclaimed leading ladies of musical theatre and an award-winning actress. Most recently, she starred alongside Anthony Warlow in Annie, playing the iconic Miss Hannigan. Her extensive theatre credits include The Producers, A Chorus Line, Sweet Charity, Cabaret, Mamma Mia!, We Will Rock You and Billy Elliot, as well as Opera Australia productions of Anything Goes, Cinderella, and the 40th Anniversary production of The Phantom of the Opera on Sydney Harbour.
With a career spanning over two decades, Debora has established herself as a multifaceted performer, renowned for her magnetic stage presence and compelling character work, earning acclaim from audiences and critics alike. She has received numerous award nominations, including the prestigious Helpmann Award, and has won the Sydney Theatre Critics Award for Best Supporting Actress (Sweet Charity), a CONDA Award (Billy Elliot), a Glug Award (Anything Goes), and a Green Room Award for her standout performance in Annie. She was also named BroadwayWorld’s Most Popular Actress in a Musical for A Chorus Line and most recently received Time Out’s People’s Choice Award for Arts and Culture for her role in Annie.
She has also starred in Jerry’s Girls as one of Australia’s celebrated leading ladies, before returning to Opera Australia to step into the role of the Wicked Stepmother in the XRoads Live/Opera Australia production of Cinderella. This was followed by a season of the UK pantomime Snow White for Bonnie Lythgoe Productions, alongside Cliff Richard and Kyle Sandilands.
Beyond the stage, Debora has enjoyed an extensive cabaret career as one half of the comic duo The Carpenters from Kempsey, and has toured her one-woman show internationally aboard cruise liners. She is also set to headline the Bravo Cruise of the Performing Arts in October 2025. Her corporate and concert appearances include the Paralympic Games, Symphony Orchestra performances such as the James Bond concert series and Christmas Proms, as well as performing the national anthem for both the men’s and women’s Ashes Test series (televised worldwide), the AAPT Tennis Finals, the AFL, NRL, and Papua New Guinea’s Susa Mama’s Charity.
